Space Tourism company Space Adventures announces first flight

Space tourism company Space Adventures has announced its next mission. Cooperating with the Russian space agency Roscosmos, Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa will fly with a production assistant on a 12 day mission to the ISS. The pair will take a Russian Soyuz spacecraft along with Russian cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin.

Yusake Maezawa is best known in the space industry for his  2018 purchase of a SpaceX Starship circumlunar flight scheduled for 2023. He has announced a contest to choose people who will accompany him on the ‘dearMoon’ mission.

Space Adventures has arranged all previous space tourism flights to the ISS with Guy Laliberté in 2009 and Sarah Brightman who was to fly in 2015 but backed out several months before the flight citing personal issues.

Maezawa’s flight to the ISS is scheduled to launch on December 8th.
