Twitch creates new category for Hot Tub Streamers

Twitch announced in a blog post on Friday that it has created a dedicated category for Hot Tub Streamers, named Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches.

Hot Tub Streams have gained recent popularity and were typically classified under the ‘Just Chatting’ category reserved for nongaming content. However, advertisers were concerned about the type of content their ads were being placed on, and as a result, Twitch was removing advertising from entire channels regardless if the stream was a “Hot Tub” stream or not.

If you have chosen swimwear that is allowed under the ‘Swim and Beaches’ contextual exception to our standard Nudity and Attire policy, you should stream into the Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches category,”  – Twitch

Twitch also admitted that this is a stopgap solution, but it does solve a few issues for all audiences in the near term.
